LYCOMING WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO NATIONALLY RANKED MESSIAH

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team challenged Messiah College, Saturday afternoon, in the second round of a tournament hosted by Elizabethtown College. The Falcons entered the game ranked ninth in the nation and quickly showed why, outscoring the Warriors 42-20 in the first half en route to an 80-48 victory. Lycoming falls to 4-6 with the loss, while Messiah improves to 12-0.

Rebecca Pugh (Jr./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove) was the Warriors’ leading scorer with nine points. Colleen Wade (Fr./Hatboro, Pa.; Hatboro-Horsham) came off the bench to score eight points and grab five rebounds. She was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts. Danielle Kern (Jr./Lehman, Pa.; Lake-Lehman) added six points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Falcons were led by Kristen Sassaman with 23 points and Eli Cook with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Lycoming will return home for their next game, hosting King’s College on Wednesday, January 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
