WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The
Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted Keystone
College, Monday evening, for a non-conference contest. The
Warriors made a late comeback attempt, but fell just short
losing to the Giants, 46-52. Lycoming falls to 6-13 overall,
while Keystone improves to 16-5.
The Warriors struggled in the
offensive end during the first half, shooting just 22% from
the field. The result was an 11-point halftime deficit.
In the second half, the
Giants stretched their lead to 13 with eight minutes to
play. Lycoming whittled that lead down to 10 with 3:26 left
on the clock and then scored six unanswered points to pull
within 41-45 with two minutes to play. The Warriors would
get no closer, however, as Keystone made 7-of-8 free throws
down the stretch.
Amy Kile (Jr./Muncy, Pa.;
Muncy) and
Stacy Lindeman (Jr./Whitehall, Pa.; Whitehall) each
scored nine points to lead Lycoming. Kile also grabbed seven
rebounds.
The Giants were led by Bobbie
Arvonio with 16 points and Julie Lasher with 11 points.
Nicole Zapolski grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds and became
the first player in Keystone College history to record 1,000
career rebounds,
The Warriors are back in
action on Wednesday, February 9, when they travel to King’s
College for a Freedom Conference game. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
