Lady Warriors Come Up Short at
Misericordia
DALLAS, Pa.
– Lycoming women’s basketball came up short in the final
game of its season-opening three-game road trip at College
Misericordia on Tuesday evening as the Cougars defeated the
Lady Warriors 51-38. Lycoming drops to 1-2 on the season
while Misericordia improves to 2-1.
The Warrior
defense was strong as the smaller blue and gold squad held
their much taller foes to only 51 points. Shooting proved
to be the Achilles Heel on this night as the Warriors shot
only 23.9 percent on 11-for-46 from the field for the game.
Neither squad seemed able to hold onto the ball as both
recorded 23 turnovers, but the Cougars added 21 points off
those miscues compared to 15 for Lycoming.
Freshman
Andrea Cooper (Holidaysburg, Pa./Holidaysburg)
registered her third straight game in double figures with a
game-high 13 points. She added five boards and four block
shots to the effort. Senior Danielle Kern (Lehman,
Pa./Lake-Lehman) snared a contest-best 13 rebounds (six
offensive). Fellow senior Stacy Lindeman (Whitehall,
Pa./Whitehall) added eight points and five rebounds.
Misericordia was led by a 10-point 10-rebound performance
from center Jenell Fort. Guard Kelly Hughes
had the most complete effort with eight points, seven boards
and five assists.
Lycoming is
next in action on Sunday, November 27, as the Warriors
welcome Mansfield University to Williamsport. Game time is
set for 1:00 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
