WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted DeSales University, Saturday afternoon, for their final game of the season. The Warriors played one of their most spirited games of the season and gave the Bulldogs all that they could handle, but ultimately fell by a score of 60-71. Lycoming finishes the season with an overall record of 7-17 and a conference mark of 3-11. DeSales improves to 19-6 and 10-4.

The Bulldogs got off to a fast start, building a 13-point lead eight minutes into the game and leading 37-29 at halftime.

DeSales’ advantage swelled to 14 early in the second half before the Warriors launched a comeback attempt. Trailing 43-29, Lycoming went on a 10-0 run sparked by a pair of three-pointers by Rebecca Pugh (Jr./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove). The Bulldogs weathered the storm and regained a 53-45 lead with 12:21 to play. But again the Warriors would not go away scoring seven straight points to pull with one at 53-52. That was as close as Lycoming would get, however, as DeSales made 10-of-12 free throws in the closing minutes.

Pugh led the Warriors with a career-high 24 points, including six three-pointers. Amy Herschman (Sr./Northampton, Pa.; Northampton) added 11 points and four rebounds. Jessica Snyder (So./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) led the squad with a game-high 13 rebounds, while scoring four points. Mindy Culp (Sr./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) chipped in six points and recorded a team-high five assists.

DeSales was led by Holly Liebl with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Alyssa Antolick added 19 points and Kirby Lutz chipped in 13 markers.
