WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted Wilkes University, Tuesday evening for a Freedom Conference contest. The Warriors used rebounding and defense to record a 62-57 victory over the Colonels. Lycoming improves to 7-15 overall and 3-9 within the conference with the win. Wilkes falls to 4-19 and 1-11.

The Warriors started strong scoring the first nine points of the game, but the Colonels fought back to tie the game at 11-11 midway through the period.  The lead then changed hands six times before Lycoming claimed a 27-25 advantage at the half.

In the second half, the Warriors again came out of the gate fast using an 11-2 run to open up a 38-27 lead less than four minutes into the half. Wilkes whittled the deficit down to four with four minutes to play in the game, but Lycoming was able to hold on for the victory. For the game, the Warriors forced 24 turnovers and out-rebounded the Colonels 45-36.

Freshman Colleen Wade (Hatboro, Pa.; Hatboro-Horsham) led Lycoming with 16 points and six rebounds. Amy Kile (Jr./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy) added 15 points and five rebounds. Amy Herschman (Sr./Northampton, Pa.; Northampton) led the squad with 11 rebounds, while scoring six points and recording five steals.

Wilkes was led by Andrea Kacprowicz (Jr./Holmdel, N.J.; Red Bank Catholic) with 17 points. Rena Bolin (Jr./Wyoming, Pa.; Scranton Prep) added 13 points, and Lacey Andresen (Fr./Deposit, N.Y.; Deposit Central) chipped in 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Warriors will be in action again on Thursday, February 17, when they host FDU-Florham for another conference contest. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
