DROPS GAME TO KING’S

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The
Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted King’s
College, Wednesday evening, for a Freedom Conference
contest. The Warriors played well hanging with the
nationally ranked Monarchs for most of the game, but came up
just short in the end falling 50-59. Lycoming is now 4-7
overall and 0-3 in the conference. King’s improves to 12-1
and 3-0.
The Warriors played a stellar
first half, shooting 55% from the field and leading by as
many as four midway through the period. The Monarchs,
however, broke a 26-26 tie with a pair of three-point plays
in the final two minutes to take a 32-26 lead to the locker
room.
In the second half, King’s
stepped up the defense and built a 19-point advantage with
nine minutes to play. Lycoming made a run scoring 10
straight points to close with seven with 4:13 on the clock,
but could not get any closer.
Danielle Kern (Jr./Lehman,
Pa.; Lake-Lehman)
led the Warriors in scoring with 11 points. Colleen Wade
(Fr./Hatboro, Pa.; Hatboro-Horsham) added eight points.
Amy Kile (Jr./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy) led the team with
eight rebounds, while scoring six points. Mindy Culp
(Sr./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) recorded six points, six
assists, and five steals.
The Monarchs were led by Beth
Jordan with 18 points. Cindy Baral came off the bench to
score 12 points and grab four rebounds. Katie Lala added
eight points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
Lycoming will play again on
Saturday, January 15, when they travel to Delaware Valley
College for another Freedom Conference game. Tip-off is set
for 1 p.m.
