2005-06 Women's Basketball

Lady Warriors Fall at Juniata
Box score

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Lycoming women’s basketball continues to shoot the ball better than in previous games, but the Lady Warriors ran into a hotter shooting Juniata College Golden Eagles squad in an 85-63 loss at Juniata on Saturday afternoon.  Lycoming falls to 2-6 while Juniata improves to 5-4 on the season.

Four Warriors scored in double figures as the Lycoming shot 40.4 percent from the field (23-of-67).  Senior forward Danielle Kern ( Lehman , Pa. /Lake-Lehman) led Lycoming with 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting to go along with eight rebounds.  Fellow senior Amy Kile ( Muncy , Pa. /Muncy) dropped in 14 points with seven boards while freshmen Andrea Cooper ( Hollidaysburg , Pa. /Hollidaysburg) and Marissa Hastings (Old Forge, Pa./Old Forge) each added a dozen tallies.  Cooper also blocked three shots.

Juniata was led by 20 points from Katie O’Brien followed by 17 from Courtney Callas.  Ali McKey poured in 13 more for the Golden Eagles with Kristen Kirk recording a dozen of her own.

Turnovers plagued the Warriors once again as Lycoming gave away possession 25 times compared to only 16 from Juniata .  The Golden Eagles turned Lycoming’s miscues into 27 points while the Warriors managed only 18 on Juniata ’s mistakes.

Lycoming did command a huge margin in second chance points.  Powered by a 38-26 rebounding edge including 16 via the offensive glass, the Warriors registered 24 second chance points to Juniata ’s seven.  The Golden Eagles made up for their rebounding woes with a dynamite effort from the bench bunch.  Their non-starters dropped in 34 points while Lycoming only got five tallies from its substitutes.

The Warriors are next in action on Monday, December 19, as they travel to Eastern Mennonite University .  Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Harrisonburg , Va.
