Warriors Fall at Juniata

– Lycoming women’s basketball continues to shoot the
ball better than in previous games, but the Lady Warriors
ran into a hotter shooting Juniata College Golden Eagles
squad in an 85-63 loss at
Juniata
on Saturday afternoon. Lycoming
falls to 2-6 while
Juniata
improves to 5-4 on the season.
Four
Warriors scored in double figures as the Lycoming shot 40.4
percent from the field (23-of-67).
Senior forward Danielle
Kern (
Lehman
,
Pa.
/Lake-Lehman) led Lycoming with 20 points on 8-of-10
shooting to go along with eight rebounds.
Fellow senior Amy
Kile (
Muncy
,
Pa.
/Muncy) dropped in 14 points with seven boards while
freshmen Andrea
Cooper (
Hollidaysburg
,
Pa.
/Hollidaysburg) and Marissa
Hastings (Old Forge, Pa./Old Forge) each added a dozen
tallies. Cooper
also blocked three shots.
Juniata
was led by 20 points from Katie O’Brien followed by 17 from Courtney Callas. Ali
McKey poured in 13 more for the Golden Eagles with Kristen
Kirk recording a dozen of her own.
Turnovers
plagued the Warriors once again as Lycoming gave away
possession 25 times compared to only 16 from
Juniata
. The Golden
Eagles turned Lycoming’s miscues into 27 points while the
Warriors managed only 18 on
Juniata
’s mistakes.
Lycoming
did command a huge margin in second chance points.
Powered by a 38-26 rebounding edge including 16 via
the offensive glass, the Warriors registered 24 second
chance points to
Juniata
’s seven. The
Golden Eagles made up for their rebounding woes with a
dynamite effort from the bench bunch.
Their non-starters dropped in 34 points while
Lycoming only got five tallies from its substitutes.
The
Warriors are next in action on Monday, December 19, as they
travel to
Eastern
Mennonite
University
. Game time is
