Lady
Warriors Drop Second Conference Game
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The
Lycoming women’s basketball team came up on the wrong end of
a 29-point decision as the FDU-Florham Lady Devils defeated
Lycoming 71-42 on Saturday afternoon. Lycoming drops to
1-5, 0-2 while Lady Devils improve to 4-2, 2-1.
The Warriors defense could not
hold the Devils in either half allowing 38 points in the
first half and 33 in the second. Although the Devils had 23
turnovers, Lycoming couldn’t take advantage as they suffered
from 23 miscues as well.
Leading the Warriors’ attack was
Danielle Kern (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) with 11
points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field. Fellow seniors
Amy Kile (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) and Stacy Lindeman
(Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) contributed 10 points each
shooting but did so on a combined 7-for-24 effort from the
field.
FDU-Florham was lead by
Jessie Chalmers with 17 points and 5 assists. Emily
Cerankowski added 14 points while Danielle Yasko
contributed 12 points and 4 assists. The Devils were 7 of
12 from three-point range and 14 of 20 from the free throw
line.
The Devils shot very well with a
53.2 percent overall clip while Lycoming shot a season-low
24.5 percent on 13-of-53 from the field including 2-of-15
from beyond the arc.
Lycoming’s defense made shooters
think twice about driving into the paint. The Warriors
blocked a season-high five shots with freshman Andrea
Cooper (Holidsaysburg, Pa./Holidsaysburg) swatting four
shots away from the bucket.
The Warriors look to break their
four-game skid this Tuesday, December 6, when they host PSU-Altoona
for a non-conference match. Game time is scheduled for 7:00
p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
