WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO FDU-FLORHAM
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted FDU-Florham,
Saturday afternoon, in the opening game of a Freedom Conference
doubleheader. The Warriors struggled with their shooting
throughout the game leading to a 69-58 loss to the Devils.
Lycoming drops to 9-11 overall and 4-6 in the conference with the
loss. FDU-Florham improves to 8-12 and 2-8.
The
game was back-and-forth from the very start with 13 lead changes
and three ties in the first half. The Warriors shot just 21% from
the field in the opening period, but trailed by just one point at
the intermission.
The
second half was more of the same with six more lead changes and
four ties. The Devils threatened to pull away early in the period
building an eight-point lead five minutes in. Lycoming, however,
chipped away at the deficit eventually tying the score at 44-44
with 11:50 to play. Over the next six minutes neither team could
compile more than a four-point advantage. But over the final four
minutes of the contest FDU outscored the Warriors 11-1 to steal
the victory.
Emily
DiMarco (Jr./Voorhees, NJ; Eastern)
was Lycoming’s leading scorer with 14 points in the game. Lyndy
LeVan (Sr./South Williamsport, PA; South Williamsport) and Katy
Kresge (Jr./Lehighton, PA; Marian Catholic) both came off the
bench to add 11 points each. LeVan also grabbed nine rebounds. Sabrina
Catrambone (Fr./Birchrunville, PA; Springfield) led the squad
with 11 rebounds and Michelle Stine (So./Mill Hall, PA; Central
Mountain) led the team with six assists.
The
Devils were led by Pamela Sagehorn and Ashley Flaherty. Sagehorn
scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Flaherty
added 13 points and 12 boards.
The
Warriors are on the road for their next contest, traveling to Drew
University on Wednesday, February 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 6
p.m.
