LYCOMING WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO FDU-FLORHAM

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted FDU-Florham, Saturday afternoon, in the opening game of a Freedom Conference doubleheader. The Warriors struggled with their shooting throughout the game leading to a 69-58 loss to the Devils. Lycoming drops to 9-11 overall and 4-6 in the conference with the loss. FDU-Florham improves to 8-12 and 2-8.

The game was back-and-forth from the very start with 13 lead changes and three ties in the first half. The Warriors shot just 21% from the field in the opening period, but trailed by just one point at the intermission.

The second half was more of the same with six more lead changes and four ties. The Devils threatened to pull away early in the period building an eight-point lead five minutes in. Lycoming, however, chipped away at the deficit eventually tying the score at 44-44 with 11:50 to play. Over the next six minutes neither team could compile more than a four-point advantage. But over the final four minutes of the contest FDU outscored the Warriors 11-1 to steal the victory.

Emily DiMarco (Jr./Voorhees, NJ; Eastern) was Lycoming’s leading scorer with 14 points in the game. Lyndy LeVan (Sr./South Williamsport, PA; South Williamsport) and Katy Kresge (Jr./Lehighton, PA; Marian Catholic) both came off the bench to add 11 points each. LeVan also grabbed nine rebounds. Sabrina Catrambone (Fr./Birchrunville, PA; Springfield) led the squad with 11 rebounds and Michelle Stine (So./Mill Hall, PA; Central Mountain) led the team with six assists.

The Devils were led by Pamela Sagehorn and Ashley Flaherty. Sagehorn scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Flaherty added 13 points and 12 boards.

The Warriors are on the road for their next contest, traveling to Drew University on Wednesday, February 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
