WARRIOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SUFFERS LOSS AT SCRANTON

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team traveled to the University of Scranton, Wednesday evening, for their first Freedom Conference contest of the season. The Warriors quickly learned why the Royals are ranked sixth in the nation as Scranton jumped out to an early lead and went on to record the 84-61 victory. Lycoming falls to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Royals improve to 4-0 and 1-0.

Scranton scored the first three points of the game on a triple by Kate Pierangeli a minute into the contest and never trailed the rest of the way. The Warriors closed within one at 7-6 but the Royals went on a 13-0 run over the next six minutes to open up a 14-point lead.  Lycoming could get no closer than 10 points the remainder of the game as Scranton picked up their first conference victory of the season.

Emily DiMarco (Sr./Voorhees, N.J.; Eastern) and Rebecca Pugh (So./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove) each scored 11 points to lead the Warriors in scoring. Mindy Culp (Jr./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) added nine points and a team-high five rebounds.

Lycoming will play again on Saturday, December 6, when they host Drew University for a Freedom Conference tilt beginning at 5 p.m.
