LYCOMING WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS FREDONIA

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team took a break from conference competition, Saturday evening, to host non-conference foe Fredonia State. The Warriors limited the Lady Blue Devils to just 17 points in the second half as they came back from a nine-point, first-half deficit to win 60-49. The victory improves Lycoming’s record to 4-2 while Fredonia falls to 2-6.

The Lady Blue Devils had the early advantage building a 25-16 lead 12 minutes into the contest. The Warriors, however, went on an 8-0 run over a two-minute span to close within one. They then gained their first lead of the game with 2:30 to play in the half at 30-29. A pair of free throws in the closing seconds of the first period extended Lycoming’s lead to 34-32 at the break.

The second half was all Warriors as the home team pulled away for the double-digit victory.

Lycoming had four players score in double figures in the game led by Emily DiMarco (Sr./Voorhees, N.J.; Eastern) with 14. Sabrina Catrambone (So./Birchrunville, Pa.; Springfield) added 13 points, Stacy Lindeman (So./Whitehall, Pa.; Whitehall) scored 12 points, and Amy Kile (So./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy) chipped in 10 markers. Katy Kresge (Sr./Lehighton, Pa.; Marian Catholic) controlled the boards for the Warriors with a game-high 13 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end of the floor.

Lycoming will play their final game of 2003 on Monday, December 15, when they travel to Keystone College for another non-conference tilt.
