WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS FREDONIA
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team took a
break from conference competition, Saturday evening, to host
non-conference foe Fredonia State. The Warriors limited the Lady
Blue Devils to just 17 points in the second half as they came back
from a nine-point, first-half deficit to win 60-49. The victory
improves Lycoming’s record to 4-2 while Fredonia falls to 2-6.
The
Lady Blue Devils had the early advantage building a 25-16 lead 12
minutes into the contest. The Warriors, however, went on an 8-0
run over a two-minute span to close within one. They then gained
their first lead of the game with 2:30 to play in the half at
30-29. A pair of free throws in the closing seconds of the first
period extended Lycoming’s lead to 34-32 at the break.
The
second half was all Warriors as the home team pulled away for the
double-digit victory.
Lycoming
had four players score in double figures in the game led by Emily
DiMarco (Sr./Voorhees, N.J.; Eastern) with 14. Sabrina
Catrambone (So./Birchrunville, Pa.; Springfield) added 13
points, Stacy Lindeman (So./Whitehall, Pa.; Whitehall)
scored 12 points, and Amy Kile (So./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy)
chipped in 10 markers. Katy Kresge (Sr./Lehighton, Pa.; Marian
Catholic) controlled the boards for the Warriors with a
game-high 13 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end of the
floor.
Lycoming
will play their final game of 2003 on Monday, December 15, when
they travel to Keystone College for another non-conference tilt.
