WARRIOR
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DOMINATES DREW
MADISON,
NJ – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team traveled to
Drew University, Wednesday evening, for a critical Freedom
Conference match-up. The Warriors used a nearly flawless second
half to blow the Rangers out of their own gym by a final score of
80-50. Lycoming improves to 10-11 overall and 5-6 in the
conference with the win. Drew falls to 11-11 and 3-8.
The
first half was back-and-forth throughout with the Warriors
clinging to a slim 25-23 lead at the break. The Rangers opened the
second half with a basket and a free throw to take their last lead
of the game. Emily DiMarco (Jr./Voorhees, NJ; Eastern)
responded for Lycoming by hitting back-to-back three-pointers that
sparked an 18-0 run over a five minute span that doomed Drew.
The
Warriors went on to shoot 77% from the field in the second half,
including 4-for-4 from behind the arc. The Rangers, on the other
hand, made just 25% of their attempts as Lycoming ran away with a
30-point victory.
DiMarco
was Lycoming’s leading scorer with 13 points. Amy Herschman
(So./Northampton, PA; Northampton) added 11 markers and Mindy
Culp (So./New Columbia, PA; Milton) chipped in 10 points. Amanda
Walker (Fr./Lock Haven, PA; Central Mountain) pulled down a
game-high nine rebounds while scoring eight points. Michelle
Stine (So./Mill Hall, PA; Central Mountain) led the squad with
eight assists in the contest.
The
Rangers were led by Sarah Marquez with 14 points and four
rebounds.
The
Warriors return to Williamsport for their final home game of the
regular season on Saturday, February 15, versus King’s College.
