WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COMES UP SHORT VERSUS YORK
BETHLEHEM, PA –
The Lycoming College women’s basketball team traveled to
Moravian College, Friday, evening to compete in the 2nd
Annual The Rock Invitational. The Warriors fell to York College in
the opening round by a score of 83-74. Lycoming drops to 5-6 with
the loss, while York improves to 6-4.
The teams
played even for most of the game, but after a 69-69 tie with 4:40
to play the Spartans outscored the Warriors 14-5 the remainder of
the game to secure the victory.
Playing without
their leading scorer due to injury, Lycoming received balanced
scoring with five players in double figures. Amy Herschman
(So./Northampton, PA; Northampton) and Rebecca Pugh
(Fr./Pine Grove, PA; Pine Grove) led the way with 15 markers
each. Herschman also led the squad with seven rebounds. Amanda
Walker (Fr./Lock Haven, PA; Central Mountain) chipped in 14
points, Sabrina Catrambone (Fr./Birchrunville, PA; Springfield)
added 13, and Mindy Culp (So./New Columbia, PA; Milton)
scored 12 points. Michelle Stine (So./Mill Hall, PA; Central
Mountain) recorded seven assists in the contest.
Lycoming
will play again tomorrow afternoon in the consolation game versus
either Moravian or Wesley (Del.).
