WARRIOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COMES UP SHORT VERSUS YORK

BETHLEHEM, PA – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team traveled to Moravian College, Friday, evening to compete in the 2^nd Annual The Rock Invitational. The Warriors fell to York College in the opening round by a score of 83-74. Lycoming drops to 5-6 with the loss, while York improves to 6-4.

The teams played even for most of the game, but after a 69-69 tie with 4:40 to play the Spartans outscored the Warriors 14-5 the remainder of the game to secure the victory.

Playing without their leading scorer due to injury, Lycoming received balanced scoring with five players in double figures. Amy Herschman (So./Northampton, PA; Northampton) and Rebecca Pugh (Fr./Pine Grove, PA; Pine Grove) led the way with 15 markers each. Herschman also led the squad with seven rebounds. Amanda Walker (Fr./Lock Haven, PA; Central Mountain) chipped in 14 points, Sabrina Catrambone (Fr./Birchrunville, PA; Springfield) added 13, and Mindy Culp (So./New Columbia, PA; Milton) scored 12 points. Michelle Stine (So./Mill Hall, PA; Central Mountain) recorded seven assists in the contest.

Lycoming will play again tomorrow afternoon in the consolation game versus either Moravian or Wesley (Del.).
