WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS JUNIATA
HUNTINGDON,
Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team traveled to
Juniata College, Wednesday evening, for a non-conference contest.
The Warriors forced 26 turnovers and shot nearly 80% from the
free-throw line to defeat the Eagles 68-60. With the victory,
Lycoming improves to 6-4 on the season, while Juniata falls to
3-7.
The
Eagles controlled the action early building a seven-point lead
midway through the opening period. The Warriors, however, used a
7-0 run late in the half to tie the game at 33-33.
In the second
half, Lycoming built a seven-point advantage of their own only to
have Juniata fight back and knot the game again at 58-58 with 4:16
to play. The rest of the game belonged to the Warrior defense as
they held to Eagles to just one basket over the final four
minutes, while scoring 10 points of their own to secure the
eight-point victory.
Emily
DiMarco (Sr./Voorhees, N.J.; Eastern)
led Lycoming’s offense with 12 points. Sabrina Catrambone
(So./Birchrunville, Pa.; Springfield) added 10 markers and a
team-high five steals. Amy Kile (So./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy), Rebecca
Pugh (So./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove), and Katy Kresge
(Sr./Lehighton, Pa.; Marian Catholic) each chipped in eight
points.
The
Warriors will return to action on Wednesday, January 14, when they
travel to King’s College for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
