WARRIOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
SUFFERS SETBACK AT DELAWARE VALLEY
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Lycoming
College women’s basketball team traveled to Delaware Valley
College, Saturday afternoon, for a key Freedom Conference
contest. The Aggies jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never looked
back, picking up a 72-61 victory. The Warriors fall to 12-8
overall and 4-5 in the conference with the setback. Delaware
Valley improves to 11-9 and 6-4.
The Aggies’
Jackie Hartzell hit a 3-pointer on the game's opening possession
and Delaware Valley built an 11-2 lead five minutes into the
contest. Lycoming answered with an 8-2 run to make it a 13-10
ballgame, but the Aggies came right back with nine straight,
including five by Shannon McCormick, for a 12-point advantage.
They would carry a 39-28 lead into halftime.
The Warriors
would close within eight in the second half, but the Aggies
sealed the deal by going 5-for-6 from the foul line in the final
minute.
Sabrina
Catrambone (So./Birchrunville,
Pa.; Springfield) led Lycoming with 14 points and seven
rebounds. Mindy Culp (Jr./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) and
Emily DiMarco (Sr./Voorhees, N.J.; Eastern) each added
nine markers. Katy Kresge (Sr./Lehighton, Pa.; Marian
Catholic) led the squad with eight rebounds, while scoring
eight points.
Delaware
Valley was led by Hartzell with 19 points. Bridget Golden added
16 points and 14 rebounds.
The Warriors
are at home for their next game, hosting King’s College on
Wednesday, February 11, at 6 p.m. |
