LYCOMING WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TOPPED IN FIRST ROUND OF TOURNAMENT

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team opened up the new year by competing in the Rinso Marquette Tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley College. The Warriors fell in the first round to York College by a score of 67-55. Lycoming drops to 4-4 with the loss, while the Spartans improved to 7-1. The Warriors will face Mary Washington College in the consolation game of the tournament.

Lycoming started fast opening up a 10-3 lead just three minutes into the contest, but York came roaring back to outscore the Warriors 30-12 the rest of the period, taking a 33-22 lead into the locker room. Lycoming cut their deficit to four a number of times in the second half but could get no closer.

Emily DiMarco (Sr./Voorhees, N.J.; Eastern) led the Warriors with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Danielle Kern (So./Lehman, Pa.; Lake-Lehman) and Sabrina Catrambone (So./Birchrunville, Pa.; Springfield) each chipped in nine points and seven rebounds. Amy Herschman (Jr./Northampton, Pa.; Northampton) led the squad with four assists while scoring seven points.
