WARRIOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS
HOME OPENER TO MISERICORDIA
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball
team hosted College Misericordia, Tuesday evening, for their
home opener. The Warriors struggled in the offensive end all
evening, shooting just 24% from the field. The result was a
44-53 loss to the visiting Cougars. Lycoming falls to 1-2
overall, while Misericordia improves to 1-2.
The
Warriors’ troubles shooting the ball were apparent right
from the start as Lycoming made just five field goals in the
first half, falling behind 18-25 at the intermission. The
Cougars extended their advantage to as much as 51-31 with
five minutes to play. Warrior junior Rebecca Pugh (Pine
Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove) finally found the touch late in
the half, scoring 11 points in the final three minutes
including a trio of three-pointers in a two-minute span.
Pugh
finished with 13 points to lead Lycoming in scoring. Amy
Kile (Jr./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy) added nine points, while
Colleen Wade (Fr./Hatboro, Pa.; Hatboro-Horsham) led the
squad with six rebounds.
Misericordia was paced by Johnna Schickram (Sr./Tamaqua,
Pa.; Tamaqua) with 13 points. Amy Hughes
(Fr./Scranton, Pa.; Bishop Hannan) added 12 points, and
Cheri Magda (Sr./Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; G.A.R.) chipped
in 11 markers. Ericka Morrison (Fr./Avon Lake, Ohio; Avon
Lake) pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
The
Warriors will play again on Sunday, November 28, when they
travel to Division II Mansfield University. Tip-off is at 1
p.m.
