LYCOMING WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS HOOD

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team challenged Hood College, Saturday afternoon, in the consolation game of the Frostburg State Tip-Off Tournament. The Warriors led by as many as 11 points in the second half, but had to fight off a comeback by the Blazers to secure the 65-56 victory. Lycoming evens their record at 1-1, while Hood drops to 0-2.

Freshman Colleen Wade (Hatboro, Pa.; Hatboro-Horsham) led the Warriors with 20 points and six rebounds in the game. Wade made 10-of-11 field goal attempts. Amy Kile (Jr./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy) came off the bench to add 10 markers and five boards. LaTasha Frye (Fr./Harrisburg, Pa.; Harrisburg) led the team in rebounds with eight.

The Blazers were led by Danielle Gallagher with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Rita Willis added 15 points and nine rebounds.

Both Wade and Gallagher were named to the all-tournament team for their efforts in the two-day event.

Lycoming will open up their home schedule on Tuesday, November 23, when they host College Misericordia at 6 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
