WARRIOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PICKS UP CONFERENCE WIN

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted Delaware Valley College, Saturday afternoon, for a Freedom Conference contest. The Warriors turned a 10-point halftime lead into an 85-63 victory for their first league win this season. Lycoming improves to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference. The Aggies fall to 7-5 and 2-2.

The Warriors began to take control of the contest late in the first half using a 13-4 run over the final four minutes to open up a 40-30 halftime lead. In the second half it was more of the same as Lycoming kept the defensive pressure on while shooting nearly 50% from the field. The home team’s lead swelled to as much as 25 before ending at 22. The Warriors out-rebounded Delaware Valley 51-43 in the game.

Mindy Culp (Jr./New Columbia, Pa.; Milton) led all scorers with 19 points in the game. She also grabbed six offensive rebounds and recorded five steals and four assists. Rebecca Pugh (So./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove) came off the bench to add 13 markers and a game-high seven assists. Emily DiMarco (Sr./Voorhees, N.J.; Eastern) chipped in 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

The Aggies had four players reach double figures led by Rachel Joyce with 12 points. Shannon McCormick added 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds; and Bridget Golden and Juli McGowan each chipped in 10 points.

Lycoming will take a break from conference competition for their next game, hosting Penn State-Altoona on Monday, January 19. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
