WARRIOR WOMEN’S
BASKETBALL PICKS UP CONFERENCE WIN
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted Delaware
Valley College, Saturday afternoon, for a Freedom Conference
contest. The Warriors turned a 10-point halftime lead into an
85-63 victory for their first league win this season. Lycoming
improves to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference. The Aggies
fall to 7-5 and 2-2.
The Warriors began to take
control of the contest late in the first half using a 13-4 run
over the final four minutes to open up a 40-30 halftime lead. In
the second half it was more of the same as Lycoming kept the
defensive pressure on while shooting nearly 50% from the field.
The home team’s lead swelled to as much as 25 before ending at
22. The Warriors out-rebounded Delaware Valley 51-43 in the
game.
Mindy Culp (Jr./New Columbia,
Pa.; Milton) led all
scorers with 19 points in the game. She also grabbed six
offensive rebounds and recorded five steals and four assists.
Rebecca Pugh (So./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove) came off the
bench to add 13 markers and a game-high seven assists. Emily
DiMarco (Sr./Voorhees, N.J.; Eastern) chipped in 11 points,
five rebounds, and four assists.
The Aggies had four players reach
double figures led by Rachel Joyce with 12 points. Shannon
McCormick added 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds; and
Bridget Golden and Juli McGowan each chipped in 10 points.
Lycoming will take a break from
conference competition for their next game, hosting Penn
State-Altoona on Monday, January 19. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. |
