LYCOMING WOMEN’S BASKETBALL BOWS TO MONARCHS

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted King’s College, Wednesday evening, for a Freedom Conference tilt. The Warriors played strong defense throughout the contest, but the Lady Monarchs proved to be too much in the end, winning by a score of 66-50. Lycoming falls to 12-9 overall and 4-6 within the conference, while King’s improves to 17-5 and 8-3.

The Warriors forced 15 turnovers in the first half but 50% shooting by the Lady Monarchs gave the visitors a 33-25 lead at the half. In the second half, Lycoming closed to within five midway through the period, but King’s ran away down the stretch for the double-digit victory.

Rebecca Pugh (So./Pine Grove, Pa.; Pine Grove) led the Warriors with 12 points in the game. Amy Kile (So./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy) added 10 markers off the bench and Sabrina Catrambone (So./Birchrunville, Pa.; Springfield) chipped in eight points and four rebounds.

The Monarchs’ Jen Wozniak led all players with 18 points and eight rebounds. Beth Jordan added 12 points, while Tiffini Varrasse kicked in 11 markers.

Lycoming will be at home again for their next game on Saturday, February 14, versus FDU-Florham. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
