LYCOMING
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TAMES COUGARS
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted College
Misericordia, Tuesday evening, in their home opener. The Warriors
weathered a furious comeback attempt by the Cougars and hung on
for the 79-73 victory. Lycoming improves to 2-1 with the win.
Misericordia falls to 1-2.
The Cougars
dominated the action early putting the first points on the board
and then pulling away for a 13-6 lead five minutes into the
contest. The Warriors, however, used a 17-2 run midway through the
period to gain control of the game. By halftime Lycoming had built
a 45-26 advantage.
Misericordia was
not ready to roll over yet, however. Early in the second half, the
Cougars went on a 13-3 run that pulled them back within seven of
the Warriors. Misericordia continued to whittle away, closing
within five with 5:07 to play. But the Cougars could not get any
closer until a lay-up by Colleen Corrigan (Jr./Lake Ariel, PA;
Western Wayne) with 18 seconds remaining made the score 76-73
in favor of Lycoming. The Warriors closed the game out from the
free-throw line hitting 3-of-4 in the final 11 seconds for the
79-73 win.
Lyndy LeVan
(Sr./South Williamsport, PA; South Williamsport)

DiMarco (Jr./Voorhees, PA; Eastern) added 22 points, including
