WARRIOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PICKS UP CONFERENCE WIN AT HOME

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted Delaware Valley College, Saturday afternoon, in the opening game of a Freedom Conference doubleheader. The Warriors hung on to a four-point halftime lead to defeat the Aggies, 59-56. Lycoming improves to 6-11 overall and 3-5 within the conference with the win. Delaware Valley falls to 11-8 and 4-4.

The Warriors set the tone for the game early, pulling out to an 8-0 lead in the first five minutes of the contest. Their lead grew to as much as 12 before the Aggies whittled it back down to four at the half. Delaware Valley continued to chip away in the early part of the second period, eventually pulling even at 34-34 and then taking their first lead of the game at 43-41 with 8:28 to play. Lycoming responded, however, with a 9-0 run to regain a seven-point edge. The lead proved to be enough, as Delaware Valley could not convert on three attempts to tie the game in the final 20 seconds, giving the Warriors the 59-56 victory.

Emily DiMarco (So./Voorhees, NJ; Eastern) and Amy Lesko (Sr./Mountain Top, PA; Crestwood) each scored 13 points to lead the team. Lyndy Levan (Jr./South Williamsport, PA; South Williamsport) added eight points while pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds. Freshman Michelle Stine (Mill Hall, PA; Central Mountain) led the squad with four assists.

Lycoming will travel to Wilkes University on Wednesday, January 30, for their next game. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. for the first game of a doubleheader with the men’s teams.
