WARRIOR
WOMEN STRUGGLE OFFENSIVELY AT MANSFIELD
MANSFIELD, PA - The Lycoming College women's basketball team traveled north to Mansfield University, Wednesday evening, for a non-conference contest with the Division II Mountaineers. The Warriors played solid defense but shot just 21.7% from the field, falling to their hosts 62-46. Lycoming drops to 3-4 with the loss, while Mansfield improves to 4-3.
Despite shooting just 19% from the floor in the opening period, the Warriors stayed close to the Mountaineers by forcing 13 turnovers and recording 11 offensive rebounds to Mansfield's four. A 5-0 run to end the half, however, gave the Mountaineers a bit of breathing room with a 30-18 advantage at the intermission.
The second half was more of the same as Lycoming continued to struggle shooting the ball, connecting on just 24% of their shots. Mansfield on the other hand was successful on 52% of their shots helping them pull away for the 16-point victory.
Emily DiMarco (Jr./Voorhees, NJ; Eastern) led the Warriors with a game-high 20 points. She also pulled down six rebounds.
Lyndy LeVan (Sr./South Williamsport, PA; South Williamsport) led Lycoming with seven rebounds, but was held scoreless for the first 22 minutes of the contest and ended the game with just four points.
Lynelle Mosley (Sr./Media, PA; Penncrest) was the leading scorer for the Mountaineers with 19 markers. Mosley also recorded seven assists in the game. Dana Purnell (Fr./Deer Park, NY; Deer Park) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for Mansfield.
The Warriors will return to action after the holidays at the Elizabethtown Tournament on January 4 and 5.
