WARRIOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS CONFERENCE GAME TO SCRANTON

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted the University of Scranton, Tuesday evening, in a Middle Atlantic Freedom Conference match-up. The Warriors hung tough with the 17th ranked team in the nation trailing by just four at the half, but the Royals ultimately handed the host team a 71-65 loss. Lycoming falls to 9-14 overall and 6-7 within the conference. Scranton improves to 20-4 and 11-2.

Action was back-and-forth early until the Royals turned a 9-0 run into a 19-10 lead midway through the period. The Warriors, however, fought back, pulling within one before eventually heading into the half down 35-31.

A 13-4 run to open the second half, put Scranton ahead 13 and seemingly in control. They extended their lead to as many as 17 before Lycoming again fought back. The Warriors outscored the Royals 10-0 during a three-minute span to close within five, but Scranton weathered the storm and hung on for the six-point win.

Lyndy Levan (Jr./South Williamsport, PA; South Williamsport) led all players with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Emily DiMarco (So./Voorhees, NJ; Eastern) chipped in 13 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Michelle Stine (Fr./Mill Hall, PA; Central Mountain) led the squad with four assists, while scoring six points.

Katie Dougherty and Judy Flounders each had 12 points to lead the Royals in scoring. AnneMarie Russo added nine rebounds and eight points for Scranton.

Lycoming will finish the regular-season on Saturday when they host DeSales University. Tip-off for the game will be at 1 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
