WARRIOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO JUNIATA

HUNTINGDON, PA – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team traveled to Juniata College, Wednesday evening for a Middle Atlantic crossover game. The Warriors got off to a slow start, falling behind by 11 points in the first half and could not gain any ground in the second period, giving the Eagles an 81-70 victory. Lycoming’s record drops to 3-2 on the year. Juniata improves to 1-3.

The Eagles set the tone for the game right from the opening tip, scoring the first 11 points of the contest. The Warriors fought back to close within one midway through the first period but could not overtake Juniata. Trailing 11 at the half, Lycoming played the Eagles even in the second half but could not close the gap.

Freshman Mindy Culp (New Columbia, PA; Milton) led the Warriors with 22 points in the game. She also added five steals and four rebounds. Lyndy LeVan (Jr./South Williamsport, PA; South Williamsport) chipped in 16 points while leading the team with 13 rebounds. Amy Lesko (Sr./Mountain Top, PA; Crestwood) also reached double figures with 12 markers.

Lycoming out-shot Juniata 42% to 40%, but were out-rebounded 50 to 39. The Eagles also made 13 more trips to the free-throw line than the Warriors did.

Lycoming will play their next game on Saturday, Dec. 1 when they open their home schedule against Fredonia. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Lamade Gymnasium.
