WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO JUNIATA
HUNTINGDON, PA
– The Lycoming College women’s basketball team traveled to
Juniata College, Wednesday evening for a Middle Atlantic crossover
game. The Warriors got off to a slow start, falling behind by 11
points in the first half and could not gain any ground in the
second period, giving the Eagles an 81-70 victory. Lycoming’s
record drops to 3-2 on the year. Juniata improves to 1-3.
The
Eagles set the tone for the game right from the opening tip,
scoring the first 11 points of the contest. The Warriors fought
back to close within one midway through the first period but could
not overtake Juniata. Trailing 11 at the half, Lycoming played the
Eagles even in the second half but could not close the gap.
Freshman
Mindy Culp (New Columbia, PA; Milton) led the Warriors with
22 points in the game. She also added five steals and four
rebounds. Lyndy LeVan (Jr./South Williamsport, PA; South
Williamsport) chipped in 16 points while leading the team with
13 rebounds. Amy Lesko (Sr./Mountain Top, PA; Crestwood)
also reached double figures with 12 markers.
Lycoming
out-shot Juniata 42% to 40%, but were out-rebounded 50 to 39. The
Eagles also made 13 more trips to the free-throw line than the
Warriors did.
Lycoming
will play their next game on Saturday, Dec. 1 when they open their
home schedule against Fredonia. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at
Lamade Gymnasium.
