WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS GAME TO MANSFIELD
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team hosted
Division II Mansfield University, Monday evening. The contest was
back and forth through the first half with the Warriors trailing
by one at the half. The Mountaineers took control in the second
period, shooting 62% from the field en route to an 86-65 victory.
The loss dropped Lycoming’s record to 4-5 on the season.
Mansfield improved to 5-3 with the win.
The
Warriors claimed the early advantage pulling ahead by nine points
10 minutes into the game. The Mountaineers battled back, however,
to take a 41-40 lead into the intermission. Mansfield quickly took control in the second half, outscoring
Lycoming 13-4 in the first four minutes of play. The Warriors
fought back to within three points, but could not regain the lead
as the Mountaineers got hot and pulled away down the stretch.
Lyndy
Levan (Jr./South Williamsport, PA; South Williamsport)
led Lycoming in both scoring and rebounding with 19 points and 11
rebounds. Mindy Culp (Fr./New Columbia, PA; Milton) and Amy
Lesko (Sr./Mountain Top, PA; Crestwood) each added 10 points
in the game. Culp also tallied five assists.
The
Warriors will travel to Texas for their next two games, facing
Texas Lutheran on Dec. 31 and Trinity on Jan. 2.
