Artz Breaks
Records, Lycoming Beats Wilkes
Senior Sets Career
Marks in Kills and Blocks Solo
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Volleyball star Lindsey Artz (Hegins, Pa.)
rewrote the Lycoming College record book on Tuesday night,
September 26 at Lamade Gymnasium. Artz broke Lycoming career
records for kills and blocks solo as the Lady Warriors (10-4)
defeated Wilkes University (3-13) in three straight games
(30-22, 30-26, 30-15).
Head Coach
Tim McMahon announced the achievements and awarded Artz an
honorary game ball before a crowd that included her parents,
several members of her family and many of her Beta Phi sorority
sisters. Even her miniature dog was in attendance, held snugly
by her parents.
The previous
Lycoming career record holders were Tracey Hracho (1996-99) with
1,650 kills and Jill Sheeley (1995-98) with 337 blocks solo.
With this year’s women’s volleyball season only half over, Artz
should set the bar high for future Lady Warriors. Freshman
Hannah Stump (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) has the potential to one
day approach her teammate. Stump had a match-high 11 kills
against Wilkes, while Artz recorded 9 kills and 1 block solo.
The women’s
volleyball team suits up again on Saturday, September 30 at York
College at 1:00p.m.
