Lady Warriors
picked third in preseason poll
Scranton, FDU-Florham take top spots
Annville, PA--
Ending their season in the MAC Freedom Conference Tournament
last season, the Lycoming women’s volleyball team looks to make
another run at the conference title. The Lady Warriors we picked
third in the 2006 preseason coaches poll, receiving 27 points.
Lycoming finished last season with a mark of 11-21, falling to
Scranton in the finals a year ago.
Losing only two
seniors, and returning First Team All-Conference and Player of
the Year Lindsey Artz (Hegins, Pa.) will help the
Warriors continue their tradition of success. Artz led the
conference in kills with 545 and placed herself in the top ten
in hitting percentage and blocks. Also returning to the court
will be Second Team senior Cassie Kapson (Towanda, Pa.),
who rounded out the season with 173 digs and 406 kills. Junior
Danielle Busch (Claymont, Del.) looks to have another
strong season, after having 861 assists last season.
The team is
also loaded with young talent. Placing four returning sophomores
and bringing in eight freshmen, the team looks to the future of
quality volleyball, combining youth and the experience of
playing in the ever tough Middle Atlantic Conference.
