Volleyball Drops a Pair at Waynesburg Quad Match

Waynesburg, Pa. – Lycoming volleyball had a rough stay in Waynesburg on Saturday afternoon as the Warriors dropped a pair of matches at the Waynesburg College quad match.   Thomas More College got the best of Lycoming 3-1 (30-32, 30-23, 28-30, 30-19) in the afternoon’s first match, and Westminster College took the second match 3-0 (30-19, 30-23, 30-27).

Hitting proved to be the Warriors downfall in the two matches.  Against Thomas More, Lycoming hit only .089 as a team (50 kills, 35 errors, 169 attempts), and improved a bit against Westminster with a .125 attack percentage (36-18-144).

Middle hitters Lindsey Artz (Hegins, Pa./Tri-Valley) and Cassandra Kapson (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) registered 59 of Lycoming’s 86 combined kills.  Artz hammered out 19 against Thomas More and followed with a 17-kill effort versus Westminster.  She also blocked three shots against Thomas More.  Kapson collected 14 kills and three blocks in the first match and recorded a .241 hitting percentage and nine kills in the latter affair.

Freshman Heather Frantz (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area) was consistent throughout the day with a half-dozen kills in each match.  She added three service aces against Thomas More.

Fellow first year players Katie Pazamickas (Sunbury, Pa./Lourdes Regional) and Terra Erway (Coudersport, Pa./Coudersport) contributed with six and five kills apiece against Thomas More, respectively.

Setters Danielle Busch (Claymont, Del./Wilmington Charter) and Jennifer Snyder (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) shared the setting duties between the two matches.  Snyder earned 25 assists against TMC, and Busch put up 28 against Westminster.  Busch also managed 12 assists in two games versus Thomas More.

Lycoming is next in action on Tuesday, October 11, as the Warriors travel to the University of Scranton for a Freedom Conference match.  First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
