Warriors Let Lead Slip Away
Williamsport, Pa. – Playing in front of the home faithful for the first
time this season, Lycoming volleyball let one slip away 3-2 to
Mt. Aloysius College on Tuesday. The Warriors (1-1) took the
first and third games 33-31 and 30-18, respectively, but handed
the Mounties (1-3) games two, four, and five 28-30, 28-30, and
14-16.
Lycoming
combined for a meager .131 hitting percentage on 61 kills and 35
errors in 198 total attacks. Junior Lindsey Artz (Hegins,
Pa./Tri-Valley) and junior Cassandra Kapson (Towanda,
Pa./Towanda Area) were the only two Warriors with above a
.100 hitting percentage.
Artz led all
attackers with 31 kills and a .304 attacking average. She also
blocked nine shots (two solo). Kapson hit at a .297 clip on 16
kills. She added four blocks (one solo) to her stat line.
The Warriors
had their problems serving as well, committing 14 errors against
nine aces.
Senior Casey
Renninger (Pottsville, Pa./Blue Mountain) was stellar on the
backline with 16 digs and no reception errors. Freshman
Heather Frantz (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) and senior
libero Cara Kapson (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area) also had
double-digit dig nights with 14 and 12 apiece.
Lycoming is next in action on Wednesday, September 7, against
PSU-Altoona. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Lamade
Gymnasium.
