VOLLEYBALL WINS TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College volleyball team won three matches on
the second day of competition at the Warrior Classic to win their
own tournament title, Saturday. The Warriors defeated Goucher
College in four games and York College in four games to win their
pool and advance to the championship match. In the title game
Lycoming faced FDU-Florham and swept the Devils in three straight
games. For the season, the Warriors are now 10-4 overall.
Against
Goucher, Layne Haverstock
(Jr./Hesston, PA; Huntingdon) led the team with 17 kills while
adding six digs. Melanie
McCoy (Jr./Bloomingburg, OH; Miami Trace) also played a strong
match, recording 14 kills. Seneca Reilly (So./Athens, PA; Athens) led the team with 52 assists.
Haverstock
and McCoy provided the offense versus York as well with 18 and 12
kills respectively. Haverstock also added 18 blocks and 20 digs in
the match. Jana Reitz (Fr./Waynesboro, PA; Waynesboro) was solid defensively
with 15 digs. Reilly again led the team in assists with 43 in four
games.
Kelli
Watson (So./East Freedom, PA; Central)
stepped up for the Warriors in the championship match, recording
18 kills to lead the squad. Haverstock added 12 kills. Jessica
Held (Sr./Allentown, PA; Parkland) led the defense with nine
digs and Reilly tallied 40 assists.
Lycoming
is on the road for their next match, traveling to DeSales
University on Tuesday, October 1.
