WARRIOR VOLLEYBALL
2-0 AFTER FIRST DAY OF LYCO CLASSIC
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College volleyball team got off to a strong
start, Friday afternoon, in their own tournament. The Warriors won
their first two matches in the Lyco Classic in three straight
games. Lycoming defeated Misericordia, 30-22, 30-18, 30-26, in
their first match; and Elizabethtown, 30-22, 30-25, 30-26, in
their second match.
Versus
Misericordia, Layne Haverstock (Jr./Hesston, PA; Huntingdon)
and Kelli Watson (So./East Freedom, PA; Central) each had
nine kills to lead the team. Haverstock also had eight blocks,
while Watson added five aces and seven digs. Jana Reitz
(Fr./Waynesboro, PA;
Waynesboro)
led the team in digs with 15. Seneca Reilly (So./Athens, PA;
Athens)
led the team in assists with 17.
Against
Elizabethtown, Haverstock and Watson again matched kill totals
with a team high 17 apiece. Reitz tallied 19 digs in the match and
Reilly recorded 47 assists. Gretchen Hause (Sr./Severna Park,
PA;
Severna Park)
added six kills and three blocks in the contest. Valerie
Troutman (Sr./Klingerstown, PA; Tri-Valley) chipped in 11
digs.
The Warriors
will play two more round-robin matches within their pool tomorrow
morning and afternoon. Following round-robin competition, the
winners of the two pools will play for the tournament
championship.
