WARRIOR
VOLLEYBALL TEAM HOPES TO CLAIM CONFERENCE CROWN
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College volleyball team will
host FDU-Florham, Saturday evening, to play for the Freedom
Conference Championship. The match will begin at 7 p.m. in
Lamade Gymnasium. Tickets are $4 for adults, $3 for senior
citizens, and $2 for students. Children six years and younger
are admitted free of charge.
The Warriors
(15-19) are hosting the conference title match for the second
consecutive year. Last season, they fell to the University of
Scranton in five games. This season, Lycoming earned the top
seed for the tournament and advanced to the championship by
sweeping fourth-seed Wilkes University in three games. The
Devils (33-7), seeded third, defeated Scranton in three straight
games in their semifinal match.
Sophomore
Lindsey Artz (Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) leads the Warriors,
averaging 4.41 kills and 1.33 blocks per game. She also has a
team-high 63 service aces on the season. Senior Kelli Watson
(East Freedom, Pa.; Central) adds 3.59 kills and 0.75 blocks
per game. Senior Seneca Reilly (Athens, Pa.; Athens) will
handle the setting responsibilities for Lycoming. She has
recorded 1,013 assists on the season while also adding 44 aces
and 179 digs. Senior Jana Reitz (Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro)
leads the defensive effort with 494 digs for the season. She
also contributes 1.86 kills per game.
FDU will
throw a balanced collection of hitters at the Warriors. Deb
Faber (Midland Park, N.J.; Midland Park) leads the group
with a total of 382 kills on the season – an average of 2.89 per
game. She also averages nearly one block per game. Megan Redd
(Lakewood, Col.; Colorado Academy) added 2.92 kills per game
with a total of 345 for the season. Laura Mildbrand
(Greenwood, Wisc.; Greenwood) and Christa Sanfilippo
(Spring, Texas; Klein) round out the foursome, averaging
2.30 and 2.29 kills per game, respectively. Erin LeBan
(Downers Grove, Ill.; Downers Grove North) is the Devils’
setter and has recorded 1,268 assists this season.
The winner of
the Freedom Conference Championship receives an automatic bid to
the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship tournament. |
