LYCOMING SWEEPS WILKES IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL SEMIFINALS

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College volleyball team hosted Wilkes University, Wednesday evening, in the semifinals of the Freedom Conference playoffs. The Warriors avenged a regular-season loss to the Colonels in impressive fashion, sweeping Wilkes (15-14) in three games by scores of 30-18, 30-26, and 30-21. The victory advances Lycoming (15-19) to the championship match of the tournament for the third consecutive season.

Lindsey Artz (So./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) led the Warriors with 14 kills in the match. Kelli Watson (Sr./East Freedom, Pa.; Central) added 10 kills. Seneca Reilly (Sr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) recorded a match-high 33 assists. Jana Reitz (Sr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) and Jillian Bolesta (Jr./Sugar Notch, Pa.; Hanover) led the defensive effort – Reitz with nine digs and Bolesta with three blocks.

Alicia Vieselmeyer (Jr./Breesport, N.Y.; Horseheads) was the Colonels’ top hitter with seven kills in the match. Amanda Harlan (Jr./Gouldsboro, Pa.; North Pocono) led the squad with 11 digs, while Nicole Hahn (So./Catasauqua, Pa.;Catasauqua) tallied 22 assists.

Lycoming will host FDU-Florham for the Freedom Conference Championship on Saturday, November 6, at 7 p.m.. The Devils advanced to the title match by defeating the University of Scranton in three games.
