Volleyball

LYCOMING VOLLEYBALL COMPETES AT CARNEGIE MELLON

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Lycoming College volleyball team traveled to Carnegie Mellon University, Friday and Saturday, to compete in a tournament. The Warriors went 1-3 in four matches, defeating Buffalo State in three games (30-21, 30-23, 30-18) and falling to Hiram in three games (29-31, 19-30, 18-30), Carnegie Mellon in four games (15-30, 19-30, 30-22, 20-30), and Susquehanna in four games (30-24, 21-30, 28-30, 23-30). Lycoming completes the regular season with an overall record of 14-19.

Against Hiram, Lindsey Artz (So./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) led the team with 19 kills and 16 digs. Cassandra Kapson (So./Towanda, Pa.; Towanda) recorded three blocks and Seneca Reilly (Sr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) compiled 29 assists and a pair of service aces.

Versus Carnegie Mellon, Artz again led the team in kills with 17 while adding eight blocks. Jana Reitz (Sr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) led the team’s defense with 27 digs. Reilly tallied 37 assists.

Kelli Watson (Sr./East Freedom, Pa.; Central) led the team against Susquehanna with 22 kills. Artz added 21 kills and 15 blocks, while also leading the team with 27 digs. Reilly recorded 45 assists in the match.

Finally, against Buffalo State, Artz had a team-high 17 kills and four blocks. Watson added 11 kills and three blocks. Artz also tallied 16 digs. Reilly compiled 32 assists.

The Warriors will play again on Wednesday, November 3, when they host Wilkes University for a semifinal match in the Freedom Conference playoffs. The match begins at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
