WARRIOR VOLLEYBALL TOPS WEST
LIBERTY, FALLS TO GENEVA AND MT. OLIVE
CLARION, Pa. –
The Lycoming
College volleyball team completed competition at the Clarion
University Tournament, Friday evening and Saturday. The Warriors
dropped two of their last three matches to finish 1-3 at the
tournament. Lycoming is now 10-10 overall.
In their
late match, Friday evening, the Warriors lost to Geneva College
in three games by scores of 23-30, 25-30, and 20-30. Lindsey
Artz (So./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) led the team with 10
kills in the match. Kelli Watson (Sr./East Freedom, Pa.;
Central) tallied a team-high 18 digs and Cassandra Kapson
(So./Towanda, Pa.; Towanda) collected five blocks. Seneca
Reilly (Sr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) recorded 26 assists in the
three games.
On Saturday,
in their final pool-play match, Lycoming defeated West Liberty
State College in four games by scores of 30-23, 25-30, 30-21,
and 30-22. Artz again led the team in kills with 21, while
Watson added 11. Jana Reitz (Sr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro)
led the defense with 29 digs. Reilly compiled 51 assists.
In
championship play, the Warriors drew Mount Olive College,
falling in three games by scores of 15-30, 16-30, and 28-30.
Once again the team was led by Artz with 13 kills. Reitz
recorded 14 digs and Reilly tallied 20 assists.
Lycoming
will return to conference competition for their next match on
Wednesday, October 6, when they host Wilkes University at 7 p.m.
in Lamade Gymnasium. |
