VOLLEYBALL CLAIMS TOP SEED FOR FREEDOM CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – For the second consecutive season, the
Lycoming College volleyball team will enter the Freedom
Conference playoffs as the number one seed. Thanks to a 3-0
victory by FDU-Florham over Wilkes University, Tuesday evening,
the Warriors claim the top seed and home court advantage
throughout the conference tournament which begins Wednesday,
November 3.
Lycoming,
13-16 overall, went 5-1 against conference competition during
the regular season with their only loss coming in five games to
Wilkes. The University of Scranton, 25-8 overall, also went 5-1
within the conference, but fell to the Warriors in four games
one week ago. The Royals will be the number two seed for the
playoffs. FDU-Florham, 30-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference,
will be the third seed by virtue of their victory over Wilkes.
Wilkes becomes the fourth seed with an overall record of 14-13
and a conference mark of 4-2.
Lycoming will
host the Colonels in Lamade Gymnasium on Wednesday, November 3,
at a time to be determined. Scranton will host FDU on the same
night for the other semifinal match. The winners will play for
the conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA
tournament on Saturday, November 6.
