LYCOMING’S ARTZ NAMED VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming College sophomore Lindsey Artz (Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) has been named the Freedom Conference Player of the Week for volleyball.

The Warriors played just one match last week, but it was a crucial conference contest versus the University of Scranton. Artz led Lycoming to a four-game victory that gives the Warriors a chance at earning the top seed for the conference tournament. Artz recorded a match-high 22 kills and four blocks versus the Royals, while compiling a hitting percentage of .362. She also added 13 digs, one ace and one assist in the match.

For the season, Artz is averaging 4.29 kills and 1.25 blocks per game to lead Lycoming in both categories. She also leads the squad in service aces with 58, while contributing 2.19 digs per game.

The Warriors are 13-16 overall this season and 5-1 within the conference. Lycoming will complete their regular-season schedule this Friday and Saturday at a tournament hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. The Warriors will then compete in the Freedom Conference playoffs beginning Wednesday, November 3. The site and opponent for that match have yet to be determined.
