LYCOMING VOLLEYBALL FINISHES THIRD IN WARRIOR CLASSIC

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College volleyball team split a pair of matches, Saturday afternoon, during the second day of competition in the 11th annual Warrior Classic Volleyball Tournament. The Warriors defeated Hartwick in four games by scores of 31-29, 27-30, 30-19, and 30-12, to finish pool-play an undefeated 3-0. Lycoming then met Susquehanna University in the semifinals, but fell to the Crusaders in three games by scores of 26-30, 20-30, and 22-30. The Warriors earned third place by virtue of a victory over York College during the first day of competition. Lycoming is now 8-7 overall this season.

Against Hartwick, Kelli Watson (Sr./East Freedom, Pa.; Central) led the Warriors with 18 kills. Lindsey Artz (So./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) added 16 kills and a team-high seven blocks. Jana Reitz (Sr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) led the defensive effort with 17 digs in the match. Seneca Reilly (Sr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) recorded 32 assists and four service aces – the four aces give her 240 for her career setting a new Lycoming College record.

Versus Susquehanna, Watson again led the Warriors with 13 kills and six blocks. Artz and Reitz each tallied nine digs and Reilly recorded 17 assists.

Susquehanna went on to win the tournament championship, defeating Elmira College in three games by scores of 30-24, 30-28, and 30-16.

Lycoming returns to conference action for their next match, hosting DeSales University on Tuesday, September 28.
