WARRIOR VOLLEYBALL WINS PAIR OF
THRILLERS
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
The
Lycoming College volleyball team welcomed seven teams to campus
for the 11th annual Warrior Classic volleyball
tournament, Friday afternoon. The Warriors got off to a strong
start with a pair of five-game victories during the first day of
competition. Lycoming defeated the University of Mary Washington
by scores of 30-25, 30-26, 20-30, 27-30, and 18-16. The Warriors
then topped York College by scores of 31-29, 25-30, 30-26,
23-30, and 15-9. Lycoming is now 7-6 overall this season.
Against Mary
Washington, Lindsey Artz (So./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley)
led the Warriors with 21 kills. Kelli Watson (Sr./East
Freedom, Pa.; Central) added 15 kills and a team-high five
blocks. Jana Reitz (Sr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) led
the squad with 16 digs and chipped in 11 kills. Seneca Reilly
(Sr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) recorded 47 assists in the match.
Versus York,
Artz again led the team with 18 kills to go along with four
blocks. Watson was close behind with 17 kills, including the
1,000th of her career. She also tallied 13 digs.
Reitz also had 13 digs and 10 kills. Reilly compiled 40 assists.
Lycoming
will play Hartwick College at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the final
round of pool play. The top teams from each pool will then be
re-seeded into a four-team playoff beginning at 2 p.m. |
