LYCOMING VOLLEYBALL RALLIES TO
DEFEAT KING’S
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. –
The
Lycoming College volleyball team traveled to King’s College,
Wednesday evening, for an important Freedom Conference match.
The Warriors came from behind to defeat the Monarchs and move to
2-0 within the conference. Lycoming is now 5-6 overall. King’s
falls to 8-5 and 0-2.
The two
teams split the first two games with the Monarchs winning the
first 30-17 and the Warriors taking the second 30-25. King’s
placed all the pressure on Lycoming by winning the third game
30-23, but the visiting team responded with a 30-24 victory in
the fourth game.
The Monarchs
had multiple opportunities to win the match in the fifth game
leading 14-10, but the Warriors would not go away. Lycoming
scored six consecutive points to claim a 16-14 win in the game
and a 3-2 victory in the match.
Kelli Watson
(Sr./East Freedom, Pa.; Central)
led the Warriors with 23 kills, 11 blocks, and 20 digs in the contest.
Lindsey Artz (So./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) added 20 kills
and six blocks. Seneca Reilly (Sr./Athens, Pa.;
Athens) recorded 53 assists. Jana Reitz (Sr./Waynesboro,
Pa.; Waynesboro) contributed 13 kills and 19 digs, while
Jillian Bolesta (Jr./Sugar Notch, Pa.; Hanover) chipped in
five blocks.
Lycoming
competes again on Friday and Saturday, September 24-25, when
they host the 11th annual Warrior Classic volleyball
tournament. |
