WARRIOR VOLLEYBALL DROPS TWO AT
BATTLEFIELD CLASSIC
GETTYSBURG, Pa. –
The Lycoming
College volleyball team traveled to Gettysburg College, Friday
afternoon, for the first day of competition at the Battlefield
Classic – a tournament featuring 18 teams. The Warriors dropped
both of their matches in pool play, falling to Gallaudet
University in four games by scores of 16-30, 30-26, 24-30, and
22-30; and coming up just short of Johns Hopkins University in
five games by scores of 27-30, 30-27, 30-27, 23-30, and 10-15.
Lycoming falls to 2-2 on the season with the setbacks. Gallaudet
also defeated Johns Hopkins and stands at 8-0 for the year.
Johns Hopkins is now 2-1.
Lindsey Artz
(So./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley)
and Kelli Watson (Sr./East Freedom, Pa.; Central) led the
Warriors against Gallaudet with 11 and 10 kills respectively.
Watson also led the squad with three blocks, while chipping in
five digs. Jana Reitz (Sr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro)
had a team-high eight digs. Seneca Reilly (Sr./Athens, Pa.;
Athens) recorded 24 assists and Danielle Busch
(Fr./Claymont, Del.; Wilmington Charter) tallied three aces.
Versus Johns
Hopkins, it was Watson who posted a team-high 23 kills with Artz
just one behind with 22 kills. Artz added six blocks and Watson
chipped in five blocks, while also leading the team with 11
digs. Reitz contributed 10 digs and four service aces. Reilly
tallied 49 assists and four aces.
Lycoming
will face York and Washington colleges in action on Saturday. |
