VOLLEYBALL OPENS SEASON WITH PAIR OF WINS
GETTYSBURG, PA
– The Lycoming College volleyball team opened the 2003 campaign
with a pair of victories in the first night of action at the
Gettysburg Tournament. The Warriors opened up with a three-game
win over Salisbury University, 30-18, 30-28, and 30-17. They then
topped Seton Hill College in five games, 30-24, 30-14, 28-30,
25-30, and 15-11.
Versus
Salisbury, Layne Haverstock (Sr./Hesston, Pa.; Huntingdon)
led the way with 13 kills and four blocks. Kelly Watson
(Jr./East Freedom, Pa.; Central) added 12 kills and three
blocks. Seneca Reilly (Jr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) led the
squad with 32 assists and Melanie McCoy (Sr./Bloomington, Ohio;
Miami Trace) was tops with four aces. Cara Kapson
(So./Towanda, Pa.; Towanda) recorded a team-high 13 digs.
Against
Seton Hill, Haverstock again led the team with 21 kills and seven
blocks, while adding 12 digs. Freshman Lindsay Artz (Hegins,
Pa.; Tri-Valley) tallied 11 kills and five blocks. Reilly
recorded 51 assists and Kapson totaled 13 digs. Watson and Jana
Reitz (Jr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) each tallied five
service aces.
