LYCOMING
VOLLEYBALL SPLITS MATCHES AT CLARION TOURNAMENT
CLARION, PA –
The Lycoming College volleyball team competed in a tournament at
Clarion University, Friday and Saturday. The Warriors split
matches on both days, going 2-2 for the weekend. On Friday,
Lycoming fell to Division II Wheeling Jesuit University, 3-0,
before defeating Division II Pfeiffer University, also 3-0. On
Saturday, the Warriors fell to host Clarion, 3-0, but rebounded to
defeat NAIA member Geneva College, 3-2. Lycoming is now 15-5
overall this season.
Against Wheeling
Jesuit, Layne Haverstock (Sr./Hesston, Pa.; Huntingdon) led
the team with eight kills and five digs. Kelli Watson (Jr./East
Freedom, Pa.; Central) added seven kills, while also recording
five digs. Seneca Reilly (Jr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) tallied
25 assists in the match.
Versus Pfeiffer,
Haverstock had a huge match with 25 kills. Watson and Lindsey
Artz (Fr./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) each added 11 kills. Artz
also led the team with three blocks. Melanie McCoy
(Sr./Bloomingburg, Ohio; Miami Trace) had a team-high 12 digs
and Reilly recorded 51 assists.
Haverstock again
led the Warriors in kills versus Clarion with 10 in the match. Jana
Reitz (Jr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) led the squad with 11
digs. Reilly tallied 19 assists.
Against Geneva,
Haverstock recorded 29 kills and Watson added 17. Haverstock also
led the team with 22 digs, while Reitz was close behind with 21.
Reilly recorded 55 assists in the five-game match.
Lycoming is in
action again on Wednesday, October 8, when they travel to Wilkes
University for a Freedom Conference match.
