VOLLEYBALL DROPS TWO MATCHES AT TOURNAMENT
PITTSBURGH, PA
– The Lycoming College volleyball team traveled to Carnegie
Mellon University, Friday afternoon, to compete in a weekend
tournament. The Warriors got off to a rough start, dropping their
first two matches. Lycoming fell to Allegheny College in five
games by scores of 23-30, 30-22, 30-25, 24-30, and 15-13. The
Warriors then lost to Gettysburg in three games by scores of
30-22, 30-20, and 30-18. Lycoming drops to 22-8 overall on the
season.
Against
Allegheny, Layne Haverstock (Sr./Hesston, Pa.; Huntingdon)
led the team with 18 kills. Lindsey Artz (Fr./Hegins, Pa.;
Tri-Valley) added 16 kills. Kelli Watson (Jr./East Freedom,
Pa.; Central) recorded a team-high six blocks and Jana
Reitz (Jr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) had a team-high 28
digs. Seneca Reilly (Jr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) tallied 51
assists in the match.
Versus
Gettysburg, Haverstock again led the team in kills with 10. Melanie
McCoy (Sr./Bloomingburg, Ohio; Bloomingburg) recorded a
team-high eight digs and Reilly led the squad with 14 assists.
The Warriors will
play at least two more matches, Saturday afternoon.
