VOLLEYBALL SPLITS MATCHES IN OWN TOURNAMENT
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College volleyball team opened up play in the 10th
Annual Warrior Classic, Friday evening. The Warriors played two
matches, defeating the University of Scranton but falling to
Carnegie Mellon University. Lycoming needed just three games to
top Scranton by scores of 30-25, 30-25, and 30-19. However, the
Warriors also lost to Carnegie Mellon in three games – 19-30,
23-30, and 21-30. Lycoming is now 10-3 overall this season.
Against Scranton,
Kelli Watson (Jr./East Freedom, Pa.; Central) led the team
with 12 kills in the match. Layne Haverstock (Sr./Hesston, Pa.;
Huntingdon) added 10 kills and nine digs. Lindsay Artz
(Fr./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) recorded a team-high six blocks,
Casey Renninger (So./Pottsville, Pa.; Blue Mountain) led
the squad with 12 digs, and Seneca Reilly (Jr./Athens, Pa.;
Athens) tallied 35 assists.
Versus Carnegie
Mellon, Haverstock led the Warriors in both kills and digs with 15
and 17, respectively. Artz again had a team-high four blocks and
Reilly recorded 30 assists. Jana Reitz (Jr./Waynesboro, Pa.;
Waynesboro) chipped in 15 digs and Watson added eight kills.
Lycoming’s loss to the Tartans snapped an eight-match winning
streak.
The Warriors are
in action again tomorrow at 10 a.m. versus Neumann College and at
noon versus Susquehanna University.
