VOLLEYBALL TOPS DEFENDING CONFERENCE CHAMPS
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College volleyball team hosted defending Freedom
Conference champion King’s College, Wednesday evening. The
Warriors swept the Monarchs in three tight games by scores of
30-28, 33-31, and 30-27. Lycoming also extended their winning
streak to seven matches and improved their record to 9-2 overall
and 2-0 in the conference. King’s falls to 8-6 overall and 1-1
in the Freedom.
Layne
Haverstock (Sr./Hesston, Pa.; Huntingdon)
led the Warriors with 16 kills in the match. She also recorded
seven digs and three blocks. Kelli Watson (Jr./East Freedom,
Pa.; Central) added 14 kills and nine digs. Lindsey Artz
(Fr./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) tallied a team-high eight
blocks, including five in the deciding game, while also chipping
in seven kills. Melanie McCoy (Sr./Bloomingburg, Ohio; Miami
Trace) led the team with 10 digs and Seneca Reilly
(Jr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) tallied 36 assists.
Lycoming is in
action again on Friday and Saturday, September 26-27, as they host
four other squads for the 10th Annual Warrior Classic.
Action begins at 3 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday in Lamade
Gymnasium.
