WARRIOR
VOLLEYBALL COMPETES AT CARNEGIE MELLON TOURNAMENT
PITTSBURGH, PA
– The Lycoming College volleyball team went 1-2 in three
matches, Saturday afternoon, at the Carnegie Mellon Tournament.
The Warriors defeated Susquehanna in four games, but fell to
Gettysburg in three games and Carnegie Mellon in four. Lycoming is
now 23-10 overall this season.
Against
Susquehanna, Layne Haverstock (Sr./Hesston, Pa.; Huntingdon)
and Kelli Watson (Jr./East Freedom, Pa.; Central) each
recorded 18 kills to lead the Warriors. Lindsey Artz (Fr./Hegins,
Pa.; Tri-Valley) led the squad with seven blocks and Jana
Reitz (Jr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) had a team-high 30
digs. Seneca Reilly (Jr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) tallied 47
assists in the match.
Haverstock led
Lycoming on both kills and digs, versus Gettysburg, with 12 and 17
respectively. Melanie McCoy (Sr./Bloomingburg, Pa.;
Bloomingburg) added seven kills, seven digs, and a block.
Reilly recorded 26 assists.
Against Carnegie
Mellon, Haverstock paced the Warriors with 18 kills and 21 digs.
Artz contributed 13 kills and led the team with four blocks.
Reilly had 35 assists.
Lycoming will
play again on Wednesday, November 5, when they host King’s
College in the semifinals of the Freedom Conference playoffs. The
match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
