Volleyball

LYCOMING VOLLEYBALL DOWNS RUTGERS-NEWARK IN THREE GAMES

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College volleyball team recorded their second consecutive sweep in as many nights, defeating Rutgers-Newark 3-0 by scores of 30-21, 30-21, and 30-24. The Warriors are now 4-2 overall. The Scarlet Raiders fall to 4-2.

Layne Haverstock (Sr./Hesston, Pa.; Huntingdon) led Lycoming with 14 kills in the match. Fellow senior Melanie McCoy (Bloomingburg, Ohio; Miami Trace) added eight kills. Lindsey Artz (Fr./Hegins, Pa.; Tri-Valley) recorded a team-high five blocks, Cara Kapson (So./Towanda, Pa.; Towanda) tallied 13 digs, and Seneca Reilly Jr./Athens, Pa.; Athens) led the squad with 31 assists.

The Warriors are at home again on Saturday, September 13, when they host Baptist Bible College and Susquehanna University for a tri-match. Lycoming will play Baptist Bible at 10 a.m. and Susquehanna at 3 p.m.
