WARRIORS NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL TEAM
McMahon Named Coach of
the Year
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– Three members of the Lycoming College volleyball team have
been named to the All-Freedom Conference teams. Senior Layne
Haverstock (Hesston, Pa.; Huntingdon) and junior Seneca
Reilly (Athens, Pa.; Athens) were named to the first team.
Junior Kelli Watson (East Freedom, Pa.; Central) was a
second-team selection. In addition, Warrior head coach Tim
McMahon was selected by his peers as the Coach of the Year.
Haverstock, a
middle hitter, led the team and the conference in kills, averaging
4.71 per game. She also led the team in aces with 75 on the
season; and was second in both digs and blocks averaging 3.45 and
0.80, respectively. Haverstock also reached two significant
milestones in 2003, surpassing 1,500 kills and 1,000 digs for her
career.
Reilly,
Lycoming’s setter, led the team and the conference in assists,
averaging 10.89 per game. She also contributed 2.41 digs per game
and a total of 66 service aces during the season. During the
season Reilly became the Warriors’ all-time leader in assists
becoming the first player in Lycoming history to record more than
3,000 in her career.
Watson, an
outside hitter, was second on the squad with 3.08 kills per game.
She also averaged 2.09 digs and 0.48 blocks per game.
McMahon,
in his third year as head coach, led the team to a record of 24-11
and second straight appearance in the Freedom Conference
championship match.
